Photo Scoring Rubric/Criteria

What judges look for?

CREATIVITY and INVENTIVENESS

Judges are looking for images that show imagination. What kind of actions, reactions emotions, lighting, situations, and storytelling can you pack into one image?

IMAGE/PHOTO

Make sure your image is free of problems. Please avoid all issues with lighting, exposure, sharpness or noise.

ORIGINALITY

...is the ability to think independently and creatively. Do something brand new. If the judges have seen a similar image 100 times it makes it hard for them to know what to judge.

TELL A STORY

The photo has to tell a story! Make this a priority. The judges want to be curious about your photo, they need context and attention to detail.

EDITING

Running your photo through 20 filters, cropping it down to just one item, twisting or distorting the image is not a wise decision. Leave the editing to a minimum and let your photo do the work.
